Spalted Wood Vase. One of my favourite shapes. This vase has a copper insert which I oxidised so that you get a surprise when you look inside - it's that lovely blue/green verdigris. My original idea was to have the copper extending above the wood but it just didn't work - the wood and copper were both competing with each other which is why I now use glass test tubes instead of copper. ⁠ There is a stopper which I've epoxied in at the bottom of the copper tubing to allow water to be stored without leaking into the wood. ⁠ Part of the charm of this vase is the spalted marks on the wood. There are even borer holes and a couple of cracks and these are all a part of the woods history.
